Pray Up and Dress Up!
Loved Ones, it’s an awesome Friday morning, another day that we are blessed to wake up, get up, pray up and dress up!
We are so extraordinarily blessed to have instructions in the Bible to guide us through our daily journeys. Our first line of defense is prayer to be fortified in the suit of our spiritual armor. We don’t go about our day without being dressed in what we believe is suitable for what’s needed and desired. Sure, we want to be comfortable and, at the same time, look our best and have a sense of confidence about how we present ourselves to the world. We take care to bathe and groom ourselves so as not to show up smelling and looking like we need to go back for a do-over. We are mindful to consider how important it is to prepare ourselves to welcome others into our physical space.
Our defensive position in life is to set up parameters that will help ensure our self-care and protection. Likewise, we should value the instructions we are given to prepare for our daily spiritual walk. It is critically important that we are properly clothed in prayer and in GOD’s Word to defend ourselves against the spiritual forces that are present in the world and impact our lives.
Take it from someone who knew very well from experience what he was talking about, the apostle Paul who gave instructions recorded in Ephesians 6:10-18 (AMP) about the importance of being spiritually clothed every day in the full armor of GOD.
“…be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.”
Prayer: JEHOVAH NISSI, thank You for being our banner and our victory. Thank You for protecting us and opening our spiritual eyes to recognize the enemy’s lies, illusions and divisiveness. Your Word gives us hope and focuses us on Your promises and wins our battles. Please keep us forever in Your protective care. In JESUS’ Name, we pray. Amen.
Love Always,
