Psalms 3: 1-2 Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.”
Have you ever heard anything like this in your thoughts or had something like this spoken to you? “There is no help.” No matter who it came through – the devil is a lie!
Beloved, do you know that God has entered into a covenant with you. He has given you promises, which provide for all your needs. He has promised to deliver you out of the hands of your enemies, to protect you, heal your body, strengthen you, empower you, guide you, direct you, and encourage your heart.
Hebrews 13:5-6
“…I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
“…I will not in any way fail or give you up nor leave you without support. I will not in any degree leave you helpless, nor forsake, nor let you down (relax my hold on you). Assuredly not!” (Amplified Bible)
Many times we lose focus of God’s faithfulness and His promises because we are focusing on our fears, the situations in our lives that cause us to fear and not on the promises of God’s word, His love for us and His faithfulness to His word. The fearlessness, the faith, the trust that God wants you and I to have must be based upon our faith and trust in Him and His faithfulness to His promises to us. Fear is more than being afraid of something happening to you. Fear is also the fear to let go of the past and move forward. It is the fear of not succeeding in a certain task or job. Fear of being hurt again. Fear that things that have been a certain way for a long time will never change. Fear is buying into the lie that the devil spoke to you through someone else. i.e. “you’ll never do any better than this” or “This is as good as it’s ever going to get”. Fear is refusing to act on what God’s word says about your situation. Fear is refusing to be honest with yourself in a situation because the minute you become honest with yourself it will then require an action from you. Hebrews 13:6 says, “The Lord is my helper.” The word helper lets us know that God is with us, and that we have a part to play in our situation.
Here is a promise from God that you can stand on when the enemy is trying to make you fearful or complacent. Side Note: To be complacent, or stagnant when God is trying to get you to move forward is also a sign of fear – the fear of change.
The Promise: Psalm 37:4-5 Delight yourself also in The Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to The Lord, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.
Prayer: Lord help me to focus on You, Your faithfulness, and Your promises in my life. Lord, the fears that I know I have help me to renounce them in the name of Jesus. The fears that I don’t know I have reveal them to me, that they may no longer hinder me. Today and throughout this year I choose to focus on the Lord and act on His promises in my life and not on the fear. In the name of Jesus, The Son of the Living God – Amen!
